Mastitis Screening

When checking for Mastitis, a Somatic Cell Count test may be performed at Cow Side. Somatic Cell Count test does not detect bacteria. However, treatment will be needed if bacteria is present. Therefore, using the EnZquik Fluorescent tests which are positive for bacteria, will provide this important information at Cow Side and allow for immediate treatment!

Only use fresh milk samples, not pasteurized milk or spiked milk samples.

A health milk sample is compared to a suspect milk sample utilizing a handheld fluorometer and fluorescent assays. If elevated levels of bacteria are present in the suspect milk sample, the higher RFU (relative fluorescent units) will be displayed on the handheld fluorometer. Pass <500 RFU Fail >501 RFU

No waiting for lab results, screening can be done at the farm!
